Bed Sore death case in Union County, North Carolina against national assisted living chain. Death certificate states that death was caused by Sepsis due to Decubitus Ulcers (pressure sores). Trial court denied Defendants' efforts to remove case from court and send it to binding arbitration with the American Health Lawyers Association, a trade association for the health care industry. Case is currently pending in the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
Wrongful death case arising from failure to monitor and treat diabetic nursing home resident whose blood sugar levels fluctuated wildly in days leading up to death. State of North Carolina cited the nursing home for a specific violation of nursing home regulations arising from the lack of care given to this resident.
Fall death case in East Tennessee. Resident fell and fractured her neck the day she was admitted to the facility. Her health declined rapidly thereafter, leading to her death.
Wrongful death case against assisted living facility in Western, North Carolina. Resident fell six times, including three times in one day. Resulting injuries included broken femur requiring total hip replacement. Resident also was not given proper dosage of her medication. The lawsuit alleges that the facility's poor care led to hospitalization, multiple complications and eventually death.
